What is keyword density?
Keyword density is the percentage of times a word or phrase appears compared to the total word count of the page. It is the simplest way to spot if you are over using or under using a target term. The tool also surfaces two and three word phrases so you can see longer keyword patterns inside your content.
Why does keyword density matter today?
Modern Google does not need a magic percentage, but extreme densities flag low quality content. Anything above three percent for a single term often reads keyword stuffed. Anything below half a percent suggests you may not have signaled topic relevance enough. The sweet spot is usually one to two percent for the main keyword.
How do you use this tool?
- Paste your full article into the box.
- The tool removes stop words and shows the most frequent words and phrases.
- Compare the densities to your target keywords.
- Edit your draft up or down based on what you see.
When is high density a red flag?
If a single term tops three percent, especially a commercial keyword, that is a stuffing signal. Naturally written content rarely repeats one phrase that often. Reword some instances or use synonyms to balance it out.
