Domain Authority Checker
Quick authority score for any domain to gauge link strength.
What is domain authority?
Domain authority is a score that estimates how strong a domain is in search engines, based on signals like backlinks, age, and organic traffic. Different tools use their own scales. This tool uses the Open Page Rank score on a zero to ten scale, which is a free public alternative to the old Google PageRank.
Why does authority matter?
SEOs use authority as a quick gauge before investing in a backlink, buying a domain, or competing on a keyword. A higher score usually means a stronger backlink profile and longer history. It is not a direct Google ranking factor, but it correlates with the things Google does reward.
How do you read the score?
- A score of zero to two means almost no authority, common for new or low traffic sites.
- Three to five is healthy for established small business sites.
- Six to seven is solid for niche authority sites.
- Eight and above is reserved for major news, government, and global brands.
When should you trust the score?
Use it as a relative comparison, not an absolute truth. Comparing five competitors using the same tool is useful. Comparing scores across different tools rarely makes sense because each runs different math.
